Emo Tours Egypt · Cairo
Emo Tours Egypt drives you from your hotel to Tahrir at 9 am, waits, and drives you back four hours later. At $15 that is all you get, and for travellers who want to wander the old museum on their own, that is exactly the point.

Read the price carefully, because the listing's own blurb doesn't. It still talks about "the iconic mask of Tutankhamen" and "an Egyptologist as your guide". In practice the booking page offers four options, and the $15 one is called Only Car With Driver. When we checked in October 2026, the other three were $35 (car and a guide), $40 (car, guide and the entry ticket) and $45 (car, guide, ticket and a local lunch).
The car-only option is good value for one kind of traveller: the one who wants a door-to-door ride across Cairo traffic and then three free hours inside. You buy your own ticket at the window, 550 EGP for a foreign adult in 2026, by card only. Rent the 75 EGP audio guide if you want commentary, or carry our highlights list. The $40 option is the one to compare with the all-in private tour at $65.
Whatever you pick, you will not see Tutankhamun's mask. It moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum in late October 2025. The royal mummies have been at NMEC since April 2021. Tahrir still has around 170,000 objects, including the Narmer Palette, Khafre, Rahotep and Nofret and the Tanis gold, and since the GEM opened it is far quieter: 1,000 to 2,000 visitors a day, the director said in 2026.
A representative waits in the lobby with a sign showing the company name.
Downtown traffic decides the time. The listing allows up to an hour.
Buy your ticket at the window by card (550 EGP per foreign adult, 275 EGP students), unless you chose the $40 or $45 option.
On your own or with the guide. Ground floor first for the Old Kingdom, then upstairs for Tanis and Yuya and Thuya.
The driver takes you back. With the $45 option, lunch at a local restaurant comes first.
★★★★★We used the car drop-off service to go to the museum and it worked out perfectly. Ali, our driver, was on time picking us up and dropping us off. Great option to get around the city comfortably.

★★★★★Mohamed Salah was awesome, we were rushing to make a half day trip and get to airport, but he manage to move us through the museum at a great pace, see everything we wanted, answered all our questions and loves his work.

No. The listing still mentions it, but the mask left Tahrir for the Grand Egyptian Museum in late October 2025. At Tahrir you see the gold mask of Psusennes I from Tanis.
No, but labels are thin and the building is big. Guests who skip a guide do well with the audio guide or a printed list. Our guided tour guide weighs it up.
